When you’re away from home, peace of mind starts with making sure someone knows your plans.

At NRV 911, our dispatchers and local law enforcement work together to keep communities safe. But when a home is vacant, it can be difficult to tell what’s normal and what might need attention — especially if no one is aware you’re out of town.

The Vacation / Security Watch Request helps bridge that gap. It allows you to share key details about your absence in advance, so dispatchers and officers have a clearer picture of your property while you’re away.

By providing information like your travel dates, whether someone is authorized to be on-site, or if security measures are in place, you help responders quickly recognize anything out of the ordinary. While this is a courtesy service and not a guarantee of security, it adds an extra layer of awareness that can make a real difference.

If you live in Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Montgomery County, or are part of the Virginia Tech community, submitting this request before you leave is a simple step that helps protect what matters most.
