Not a call center in another state. Not an automated system. A real, trained person that’s right here in Christiansburg, whose entire focus is getting the right help to you as fast as possible.

The New River Valley Emergency Communications Regional Authority (NRV 911) was established by the Virginia General Assembly in 2010 and became fully operational in 2016.

We are the single point of contact for emergency and non-emergency services across Montgomery County, the Towns of Blacksburg and Christiansburg, and Virginia Tech.

That’s 393 square miles. 98,000 people. One dedicated team.

We coordinate response for 4 law enforcement agencies, 5 fire departments, and 6 EMS agencies… 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We never close.

And, behind every call is a telecommunicator who is dedicated, stays calm under pressure, and shows up every shift ready to be someone’s lifeline.
